Veganworks Launches!

The Veganworks Launches in Somerset

A leading Somerset food producer is taking veganism mainstream, with a new range of ingredients for the country’s leading supermarkets. The Flavourworks is launching vegan butters, sauces, gravies and rubs for the UK’s top food manufacturers - which will make feature on the shelves of the big food retailers’ plant based meal ranges.

Initially the lines will be made at the company’s HQ in Wincanton, but already plans are being drawn up for a brand-new production facility that will showcase key green targets such as using ‘vegan powered’ gas from a local biomass plant, rainwater harvesting and being fully carbon neutral.

MD Chris Ormrod said that it was impossible to ignore the continued growth in plant based launches: “Over the last few months we have had increasing numbers of requests from our customers for vegan ingredients and we now think it is the right time to be planning to build The Veganworks to deal with that demand.”

Chris has coined the phrase ‘easy vegan’, which aims to make veganism accessible for all consumers, such as those who want to regularly opt in to the diet for health or ethical reasons or are doing challenges such as Veganuary and don’t want to spend hours boiling chickpeas. He says: “this is also for people who want to dip in and out of vegan products, especially at this time of year.”

He added: “to misquote Victor Hugo - nothing is as powerful as a plant whose time has come!”

The Flavourworks, formerly known as Markus Products, annually supplies 600 new product lines to around 60 food manufacturers. Its ingredients feature in many top end meals to be found on the shelves of M&S, Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda, Aldi, Lidl and the Co-Op. Its famous sauces also regularly feature in popular Christmas tv adverts.
